The only mentally retarded people are those who thought Curry was a top 5 player.

But OP is wrong. If westbrook gets to 50 wins and his usual crazy stats. He got it in the bag

His only competition is LeBron for the MVP. And LeBron goes chillmode in the regular season.

WB is a top 3 player in the league, he has top 15 goat potential. He is going to win one and probably several MVP's in his career. He's an elite defender and a better leader than KD who is meek, weak and chokes when the lights shine brightest. GTFO with your BS about WB.

This is as simple as I can make it. I know you're a troll, so responding is futile, but I have a problem: I like to try and talk some sense and logic into trolls knowing I'd be better off banging my head against a brick wall.

1.) OKC finished the 2014-2015 season tied with the Pelicans for 8th in the West. The Pelicans won the head-to-head tiebreaker.

2.) Durant wasn't Westbrook's only teammate that missed time. Ibaka missed about 15 games. Adams, Roberson, and Collison also missed stretches of the season. OKC was decimated by injuries in 2014-2015.

2.) Westbrook missed 15 games during the season. He missed 16 if you count the game against the Clippers where Westbrook broke his hand and only played 8 minutes. OKC still damn near won that game.

3.) OKC's went 40-27 in the games Westbrook played. That's a .597 win%. A .597 win % over the course of 15 games is a 9-6 record which is four games better than the 5-10 record OKC went in those 15 games without Westbrook.

4.) Which means instead of finishing 45-37 and tied for 8th, OKC would've comfortably finished in 8th place with a 49-33 record and just one game behind 7-seed Dallas who went 50-32.

Also, just a bit of extra information...OKC's 45-37 record in 2014-2015 that caused them to miss the playoffs would've been good enough to finish 5th in the West in 2015-2016.

westbrooks production just doesnt exactly correlate to winning. Its not because he has low basketball IQ, its just his style of play that is essentially maybe too rushed, lacking finesse and contemplation? to beable to read the defense and make the right play requires time to think and for the possession to develop to read it and make the right attack moves, but westbrook doesnt do that. hes not malleable, he doesnt adapt, hes rigid in his play and will do what he wants whether its an opportunity the defense gives him or not. And thats not a good thing nor conducive to winning when you are leading a team. He can win MVP, but he would have to make a significant change in his approach to the game, because if he doesnt, and hes the sole leader of the team, that team isnt winning 50 games.

Mentally retarded?

He finished comfortably in 4th this year.

It will be almost impossible for Curry or Durant to win it unless one of them suffers a major injury.

Lebron is likely to be on a serious maintenance program. Although if he wants it...Lebron will get it likely. Remains to be seen if he really wants to go for it though.

Leonard is always lurking of course...but is really a huge favorite over Russ at this point?

Barring injury...Russ is going to finish at or near the top in MVP voting.

It often does take a top seed, but each year is different...and built into that top seed metric is an expectation metric.

The numbers/averages for him are going to be insane. He's gonna do something like 28/8/11 (assuming he plays like 36 mpg)...

The question is...can the Thunder win enough. I'd argue that because this year is going to be a pretty unique year...winning like 53 games could be enough to get him MVP if Lebron decides not to go for it.

Of course there will be things we aren't seeing now and a player like Davis or Harden could make some noise...

But what is mentally retarded about thinking a guy that just finished 4th in MVP...that now has his own team and is likely to average near a 30 point triple double for the season...has just no chance at the MVP when 2 of the top 4 guys of his competition basically took themselves out of the running?

Durant and Ibaka are gone, Westbrook is left with bunch of scrubs outside Adams and Kanter. Their current roster has no shooting, or playmaking outside Westbrook. I highly doubt they win that many games in the West. I say 35-42 tops.

Westbrook can't just carry the load of 3 people. Especially the longer the season goes. Russ goes all out every game, that will get tiring after a while. Get ready for some terrible shooting games, I mean who exactly is he even supposed to count on to show up consistently. Kyle Singler about to blow up?

All this MVP talk seems insane to me, I will just wait to see how the season goes.

How do you feel about the whole Durant situation? I never saw your reaction to it. Is he a ***** or what?

What will be interesting to see is if Westbrook plays with the same intensity over the course of the entire season, knowing in the back of his head he has no chance at a championship.

Russell might have a meltdown mid-season as the Thunder struggle immensely. Temper tantrums... lashing out at the media... etc. Gonna be interesting to watch his true character.

Kinda feels bad, if he didn't choke in Game 6 they coulda easily beat the Warriors and had a legit shot at the title. Then he goes and joins them right after, displays no competitive spirit. I never imagined Magic/Bird joining each other after losing, even if they could. Or Jordan joining Pistons, or Kobe going to Spurs.

But then you realize it's just a game to this current generation, it's not some battle of will like before. They don't care about the story. All they want is a ring and they will take the best road possible, even if it's the easier road.

42 seems pretty low...but you never know.

When you say the MVP talk is insane...where would you place Russ?

I mean...Durant and Curry can't win unless one of them suffers an injury and misses like half the season.

So 2 of the 3 best players in the league can't win.

So where do you rank Russ that it would be insane for him to win?
