Three seasons and has made ZERO strides in anything but scoring. (and even that he doesn't do efficiently) He's actually gotten WORSE defensively by each passing season if you can believe it. The worst defensive player at his position and top 5 worst in the NBA overall. In three seasons he has not once posted a positive BPM. His best is a -2.1. He's complete garbage and he's going to be paid the super max.

How many 22 year olds were high impact players setting the world on fire?

People are being way too hard on Wiggins

22 years or not, most guys getting the max after 3 seasons in the league have actually shown something. He hasn't displayed one single thing as far as potential that should have got him the super max...not one.

His athleticism is legit and is developing. But his bbiq is the same as the day he walked in the door.

Big waste of money imo

I'd have traded him. They don't need him and this is just going to cripple them financially.

You claim he is worthless and crap and then you say you'd trade him. For what? A bunch of other crap that doesn't have nearly the same upside as Wiggins currently does?

Again, any team that had drafted him would be giving him the same 5 year max he just got anyway.

He stays healthy (played 245 out of 246 games). Will be his 3rd year with KAT who Minny plans on making sure he doesnt get away next summer. Butler brings offense and defense to the team and is locked up until the summer of 2019 when he has the option.

Not a bad gamble to see if these 3 can come together and make some future noise. Plus the main objective is to put asses in the seats while trying to compete in the postseason.

His impact is crap, but there are teams (like the twolves rjust did) willing to throw the dice on him. The Twolves shouldn't have been that, though. They have Butler and KAT. There should have been no desperation to keep him around. They should have traded him for some guys who could help butler and KAT immediately and not maybe (a big maybe) down the line.

If AW is as bad as you say, then what kind of return are they going to get from other GM's (who are watching also) around the league? Teams are going to give up 2 quality starters/players who Minny can plug in right now w/o taking a step back?

He's not a superstar, yet he's not a bum either. The money being thrown around these days, like others have said, doesn't make it that bad of signing.

His value is higher than his actual worth...thats the point. Oh well, it's done now. Twolves just better hope they get some return on their investment.

You don't understand the situation that team is in, the best option they have is rolling the dice with Wiggins and do their best to keep developing him
Well said, and this is the correct answer. Unfortunately, it brings us to a point that has been very obvious for some time ... WarriorFan is clearly capable of legitimate basketball talk and opinions without the trolling.

Hopefully, this will be the warriorfan we will see going forward. I like the thoughtful response. +1

As for this Wiggins deal, it feels like a massive overpay for someone who hasn't proven much in two years, but then you look at the NBA landscape ... the T-Wolves either pay the man and hope for the best or begin the process of him leaving without having a viable backup plan.

His ceiling is still high enough to warrant a big contract in today's basketball environment where Mozgov got $17 million a year.

As an aside, the TWolves payroll is going to be MASSIVE in a couple years.
