Except Congress. You may not like what they're doing but "irrelevant" is the wrong word to describe them. They've had an enormous impact.

Has there been any legislation passed that was influenced or introduced by the tea party?

They don't pass anything but obstruction is another way to have an impact and they've done that.

Um, there was a government shutdown less than a year ago. That cost us between 12 and 24 Billion dollars. They threatened the debt ceiling which would have had a giant impact on the world economy.
The House Majority Leader lost a primary election for the first time in history.
We don't have an immigration bill. These two things are related.
Impeachment talk has been slowing building in the Republican Party. We are about to have another bunch of hearings on Benghazi with a Tea Party affiliated Congressman in charge.
They are not irrelevant. They have been effective at pulling the Republican Party far to the Right of the American People and they affect the standard House Leaders making them much, much more intransigent, even on issues that have broadstream support. John Boehner's tenure is all about fear of the Tea Party.
The Tea Party is not yet marginalized or isolated in the Republican Party, though the counterreaction is building. They and their talk radio allies are here for the next few years.
The intraparty battles that will happen in 2016 will be brutal.

The coup already happened.
Although the Tea Party was just used and spit out by corporate interests as a means to that end:

That's because the older people have jobs and things to do with their lives
Look at Occupy Wallstreet. Every one of those idiots was weird and hippie-like and a majority of them had no job.
The human brain doesn't fully develop until your mid 20's, but you want teens and 20-something's to rule the world....

Prolly bcuz they're real people doing real people things, like working, taking care of family. It's called the "Silent Majority" for a reason. They're not like those lefty luzers who got no jobs and got nothing better to do than promote radical causes and gather around with each other in public parks to "protest" all things
