What ethnic group's got the best food?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Cajun food. One of my absolute favorites and the main reason I still bother to go to new Orleans.

My mother is from the Bahamas, but her mother is from Alabama. My father is from The States, and his mother is from The Bahamas.

aha. lots of island hopping. as you pointed out earlier, the variations in black cuisine (like any cuisine) are endless and dependent on region, family, wealth/resource level, season, etc.

My favorite soul type foods tend to be hamhocks or oxtail stew type braised cheap cuts.

yeah, I was never really a fan. sure, as a little kid I would drink it, but I was never crazy about it. I prefer a tall glass of room temperature buttermilk.

Anyways, there is no real "best food" IMO. Every culture has some
dish that I love. Why limit yourself? Also, most people will be partial to the food that they grew up on since it's their comfort food

Some VASTly underrated and delicious cuisines in their own right:

Korean
Indian
Spanish

To most, Korean and Indian are bit of an enigma where people think its just kimchi/curry. But Authentic Korean BBQ is personally a top 3-5 line of cooking for me and higher end Indian food is delicious as well.

3 of my favorites. I love kogolgi (sp?)! Bulgogi is the shit though.

And indian food, how can they make chickpeas, lentils and rice in so many varied ways that are all delicious.

My favorite component of spanish cuisine is actually the cured meats and all the awesome cheeses, but its all really good. I loved living there, awesome 3 course menu del dia dishes for ~5-7 bucks (with coffee and a carafe of wine at the right places), a nice lazy afternoon, followed by a small dinner and dancing/drinking all night.

I actually don't limit myself. I have tried most of the cuisines discussed in this thread. Just giving my feedback on what I liked the most. Purely personal choices.

But I have never really found any eastern european dish that I have really enjoyed and wanted more of.
