I know Leszek Kolakowski left Berkeley in a state of disgust at the complacent self-indulgence and arrogance of the students there; their combination of being pampered spoiled brats and while whining about the unfairness of life and parroting the same cliched Marxist drivel he had left Poland to escape; not to mention their quite remarkable ignorance and conceit, and unwillingness to learn and undertake serious study.

And this was in the 70s. Shit's got so much worse since then. Kolakowski was one of the greatest minds of the late 20th century, so i'll take his word for it.
