Default Mike Conley showing alot of improvement

He's played well the last couple games, and the new coach says he going to give him the freedom to make plays....i guess well see the next couple games how he does.

I'd like for Hollins to make more use of Conley and Arthur. Both played pretty well in the two games that Davis coached. Iavaroni just didn't know how to use the players he had.

I'd like for Conley to show more leadership out there aswell. With Iavaroni, he would call the plays and Conley would have to look for what play was being ran. Now that we have Hollins, hopefully Conley takes a bit more control.

I still have faith that Mike Conley and OJ Mayo can be a dominant backcourt in the future. They were playing good together in summer league but once the season started thats when the coach started flip-flopping him out the lineup. Hopefully the Griz won't trade him to the Bucks.

It looks like the coach is really giving Mike the green light to operate.

ive been one of conleys biggest critics and i hope it was the coach.he always looked like a deer in headlights to me.he needs to let mayo teach him how to shoot a floater.that would help alot going to the rack.i hope im wrong about mike.

Shooting a Floater is hard, Players like Mayo and Tony Parker make it loook easy, but their is a reason they are the only 2 players that do it a lot.

Conley just needs to go back to the basics and get a shooting coach.

"He told me how much freedom I'll have and what he's expecting," Conley said, smiling. "He wants me to put the jets on and push the ball."

Conley kept smiling.

He couldn't stop, actually.

Hollins has said that the team's style change may not be totally evident tonight when the Denver Nuggets visit FedExForum with designs on spoiling his debut. But Hollins made clear his short-term plans involve the Grizzlies' second-year point guard.

Hollins, a former all-star guard, intends to push Conley and see if the 21-year-old can produce. That means Conley will direct the show with the responsibility of calling sets and making plays without looking over his shoulder.

"I want to see if Mike Conley is a basketball player on a high level," Hollins said, referring to Conley's status as a fourth overall draft pick. "I understand the pressure of being a high pick, of being the first guard picked. I was the No. 6 (overall) pick. But I want to see what he can do.

"I'm going to give Conley a lot of pushing and a lot of freedom and see what he can do."
I'm glad to hear this.
