What a rediculous contract. Brand peaked 3 years ago. He has health issues, and even when he's healthy, he's never been a dominant player. He fails to take charge against good teams and only plays his best against worse teams. Brand does everything ok, but nothing great. He's on his way down, and you're paying him like he's a player that he never really was.
Even a Lakers fan like me can't even pretend like it's a good deal, despite the fact you took him away from the Clippers.
People are going nuts over Brand's "health issues". Sure, he is coming off a near-season long injury and that's a concern, but prior to that he hadn't major injury records.
Peaked 3 years ago? Brand is 29, and in the 06-07 season he shot a career-high 53% from the field. Then the injury came, and even when he came back last season, he seemed to be coming back nicely. Not to say there aren't health issues aroung Brand, but I think they are much less serious than some people are making them look.
About overpaying him, Brand would've received that kind of money from any team that could afford it: there's no way he came in cheaper. With the kind of deals players as Rashard Lewis are getting, added to the fact that he fills some major team needs that hadn't been addressed for years, I don't think it was a bad signing.

He has been extremely durable his entire career what in the hell are you talking about one season he was out wow. Now he's a health concern come on man. Would you be saying the same thing if the Lakers managed to pick him up certainly not. So let's compare Brand vs Gasol. Brand has averaged 20 ppg 6 times vs Gasol's 2 in each of their career's Brand's highest being 24 ppg Gasol barely 20 as his high. The least amount of points Brand has averaged in a single season is 17 ppg and that was last year off a injury. Gasol averaged 18 ppg last year which proves Brand can still perform at a decent level even while injured can Gasol I think not. Gasol has never averaged 10 rebounds per game in a single season his all time high is 9 and at 7 foot that is absolutely pathetic. Brand has averaged 10 rebounds per game 6 times in his career with his high at 11 rebounds per game. I'm going to stop there because this is getting too pathetic. Gasol has nothing on Brand the stats aren't even close Brand dominates Gasol on just about every statistical category imaginable. So is Brand really gettingso overpaid Gasol hasn't lived up to any of the so called hype people surrounding him with. Talking about big games what did he do but, help you guys loose in the finals he was a no show. Mind you Gasol is 1 year younger than Brand so he hasn't reahed his peak. So next time you want to bring up the fact that the Sixers picked up a top PF in the league and paid him what he is worth. Make sure you have a PF that is better so that you can actually back yourself up because Brand is easily better than any PF you have on your roster especially slow unskilled non rebounding ultra soft tissue paper Gasol.

It's funny how you celtic fans puff your chest out and think you can down, other teams. From laughing stock to champs trust me it will be short lived. Keep living through your team loser eventually they will fail you bum and, then you can relive that 06-07 season because that's the true cetltics.
