That's a guaranteed ship right there.
No team with JR Smith is guaranteed a chip.

Sorry to burst your bubble
The grizz are a treadmill team, small markets can't attract the superstar they need to get a ship. Their only chance is to draft a superstar and that seems highly unlikely because the Grizz are just good enough to avoid the lotto and just bad enough to be nowhere near a ship. If Marc wants to win, he will leave Mem like his bro did.

Jr is a talented player that needs a coach that wont take his crap, between Phil and Fish no way he gets away with the stuff he pulled on Woody's watch.

The Lakers suck ass right now, no matter how ruby-colored those lenses you're peering through are.
They ain't completing for shit unless the LeBron goes, or Melo goes, takes a pay cut, and they're able to keep Pau and bring back Ariza.
And since none of that is happening (if Melo goes to the Lakers it will be for the max, and when paired with Kobe's contract... ), you can stop that whole competing for a ring front.
Next year's Laker roster might rival the 2004-2005 roster in sheer mass ineptitude. Kobe's going to wake up one morning in February playing on a 15 win team and realize he ****ed up big time signing that $50 million contract.

Re: Report: Knicks offer verbal max to Carmelo Anthony; 5 year/ $129 million
Wouldn't be surprised at all if this is set up for Melo to take less and look like the hero. They somehow bring in Pau for this year to reunite himself on a team where he can likely prosper and have a shot to play with his brother the following year. This could all get interesting quickly.

Re: Report: Knicks offer verbal max to Carmelo Anthony; 5 year/ $129 million
Would anybody be shocked if Melo takes the max? NY was always the place he wanted be at, yet to get there he forced a trade from Denver so he could get his money even though to accomplish this the Knicks had to gut their team.
If he didn't sacrifice for the Knicks, why would he do it for any other team and have the added backlash of leaving NY, where his family seems to be wanting to live after he retires? He's been quoted a couple of times saying winning was his priority but as far as we know it could just be a PR move or a cry for help to convince others to join him at some stage.
I get that he is older now, sees his window closing and has since seen some of his peers win by joining forces but he is also in a position in NY where he is not expected to win (not even a 37-win season hurt his image for the majority of fans). I don't see him risking all that and giving up money for a chance at a title somewhere else.

129 million to play on a shitty team with no expectations. That's an easy decision.

So we shouldn't pay a legitimate franchise player the max because he MIGHT be overpaid 4 years from now?
