Default Parker; 2nd scorer?

Thought I would add this for some discussion.

I looked at Anthony Parker's game logs. The Raptors are 8-10 when he scores 18 or more points in a game. Including the Indiana game (when Bosh left with his latest injury) the Raptors are 2-6. Parker has scored no less than 12 points in those 8 games and scored 19+ in 6 (1-5) of those games; averaging 18.

Obviously he tries to take up some of the scoring slack when Bosh is out but it would be interesting to know if the Raptors would have a better record if when Bosh was playing if Parker became more of their secondary scorer.

It was no coincidence earlier in the season that Raptors got going when they got Anthony more involved in the offense.

A little recap

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71379

- Parker has been outstanding - and he is doing it the right way... not forcing too many shots, but creating shots, getting into the paint a little bit - I love his game...

Parker was a great pickup by BC last year, and we should look to keep him long-term; or at least until he shows signs of breaking down

Well he's 32 or 33 as of now and has already shown some defensive regression. Still good for a few more years bombing from the corner but we're in trouble if we expect AP to be the best swingman we have for the next little while.

Yeah but I don't see us picking up a superstar SF or SG anytime soon, maybe someone like Pietrus or Delfino but I would keep AP over them...thats just me though

Imagine, and this one is for you Funk:

Bargnani
Bosh
Pietrus
Parker
Calderon (Or Ford)

Pietrus would be a solid pickup for TO.I wouldn't mind having Bargs as our sixth and have a good solid rebounder....

Not really any different from this season. Pietrus while he is an upgrade on Moon it's not major and won't make that big of a difference.

I hate to be frank, but I really doubt that team makes it further than out current team. I like Mikael as an upgrade and it also makes Moon expendable (since you didn't suggest how we acquire him).

But theres no way that one move gets us over the top when we clearly need rebounding and defense. Yea, Pietrus adds that but what we really need is a big body a back up center that focus' on cleaning glass.

Jeff Foster anyone?

(I know there are other guys but lets try to be realistic.)

Pietrus is a Free Agents after the season.

Parker's recent play is reminding me why I liked the guy so much last year. His speed on defense seems to have degraded but his offense is as efficient as ever. Instead of force feeding Bargnani shots when Bosh gets back, give them to Parker who is a much better offensive player.

I agree Parker has been getting it done.

His jumpshot is tight- I never knew he had that sweet fadeaway in his arsenal other than his 3-pointer and he has been strong when going to the bucket as of late.

His stats are virtually identical vs last year. His 3pt% is slightly higher as is his defensive rebounding. However, his free throws per game are down (not that they were that high before) and he had said in the off season he wanted to work on that part of his game. So much for that.

How many SG shoot almost 48%?

He has to be more selfish on offense. That is his downfall; being too unselfish.

Exactly, we have our better shooters (Parker, Calderon, Kapono) taking few shots, and Delfino (and Moon!) shooting much more than they should.

We are supposed having a COY in the bench, can't he only tell the "big 3 shooters" taking more shots by themselves?.
