Default How do you see the conference playing out?

Now that we're into the season a bit, let's revisit how we think the playoffs will shake out, given what we know.

Most had/have Cleveland, Detroit, Boston as the top teams. The Magic and Hawks look good. I know many, including me, had the Wizards making the playoffs which will not happen. I thought the Raps would be in a battle for the 8th seed, and it definitely looks that way. Miami has surprised and I think they will make it and Philly has won a couple in a row now.

The Knicks were a surprise, but it's unknow if the deals they made will make them better or worse. The Raps do not look good right now, and the Bucks/Nets are playing better then expected (Bucks without Redd).

It's close with really the Wiz and Bobcats the only teams that look completely out of it.

Thoughts?

Alot of people had Philly challenging for the east crown or at least a dark horse for it. But It looks like they are just slightly better then .500 really.

Also Cleveland has been better then alot of people thought.

Boston is surprising me, I thought they'd be content to coast to a 50 win season and make a attempt to defend the crown. But they are playing hard every game and could win over 60.

Detroit is likely the toughest team to predict what will happen. But they look like they'll win 50.

The RAPTORS.....well I just don't know about them anymore. I was so disapointed with the Boston game. And im starting to doubt BC. Its unreal a coaching change hasnt happened. When Vince got an uncontested Lob with 2 secs left and then a unspirited loss to the C's 2 days later, you have to wonder.

I had Cleveland going to the Finals this year, nice to see them starting of well (doesn't mean much by whatever). Wizards and Pacers doing more poorly than I expected. Still don't consider Miami a playoff team. New York doing well though.

I think the Raptors will make the playoffs, unless any big change that is coming proves to be a bonehead move (the Raptors could, for example, have a far worse coach than Mitchell). Bosh and Calderon will drag them there even if O'Neal misses much of the season injured.

It's way too early to make a legitimate claim about who is right and wrong about their predictions... We're only 11 games in, i'd give it at least like 35-40 games before I decide where we stand,

Who would be "far worse" then Mitchell?

Man games into the season, we cant close-out games, not liking the bench at all.. defense is decent.

To win championship, defense is key, great bench.

I mean we got great offense, it's the defense dat needs work.

I see us around 7-8th seed at this rate

Not so much interested in who was right or wrong, just where people see the eastern conference at the 10 game-ish mark. Lots of strong opinions about the team in general, so figured there might be opinions about the playoff picture.

If I'm Bryan Colangelo I'd go after Eddie Jordan right away. Instant X and O improvement on a team that desperately needs it.

1. Boston - Defending Champions already 7 wins big three doing it agian
2. Cleveland - Mo Williams is key they could take over 1st Lebron is amazing
3. Detroit - Beat Lakers and Cavs already more time = better they get
4. Magic - Dwight is a beast, everyone got BETTER continue to improve
5. Hawks - 6-0 start when healthy, everyone gets back they are a top team
6. Philly - Iggy and brand need time period will be very good soon
7. Toronto - befit of the doubt JO health? = Playoff team if not = no playoffs
8. New Jersey - Harris is looking amazing, Vince can take over anytime.
9. Milwaukee - When redd is back there as good as 6 - 8

When Philly learns how to use Brand and Iggy together there moving way up, when Hawks are at 100% J-smooth and them there proven and know how to win there up there ...... Raptors look good with JO and Bargnani at the three, if JO can't play that much Raptors don't make the playoffs ..... New Jersey will surprise they got enough talent ...... on the list the top 4 teams are SET THERE THEY BEST PERIOD ..... from 5 and down anything can change .... Bulls and Pacers are looking decent as well ..... for TORONTO they can't afford to lose to these below .50 teams at all

I agree. He's actually a pretty good coach.

Also, sign Bonzi Wells. We need toughness, swaggar and wing production.

both of these wont happen...
not because they aren't the right move
and not because BC's an idiot
but because MLSE are nothing but a bunch of penny pushing cheap business men who arent willing to pay something north of 10 mill for a coach when they have Mitchell for 7 mill
or pay luxury tax for anyone......

I'm from the west coast, so correct me if I'm not really that familiar with the east, but here's how I look at it.

1. Boston ... no explanation needed
2. Detroit .... ditto
3. Cleveland ... I feel Cleveland's much more able now to challenge Detroit and Boston
4. Orlando ... I love Superman too, but Orlando needs better guards
5-6. Philly / Toronto ... I'm undecided if I rather have Iggy/Brand or Bosh/JO in my frontcourt ... this is 50/50
7. Atlanta
8. New Jersey

New Jersey
New York
Miami
Washington
Atlanta
Chicago
Milwaukee

Out of that list, none are good enough to "run away" with it, and at the end of the day, they all will just turn into the first round warm-up for Detroit or Boston. I picked the Hawks and Nets for the sake of picking, but again, all of these teams are fully able to compete with each other in this "mini-conference." I'm not counting anyone out yet except for perhaps the Wizards, because Agent 0 might come back (it kinda reminds me of the 05-06 Houston Rockets trying to figure out when Mac and Yao were going to come back)
