Case for FALSE 0.9 repeating doesn't equal 1 because well because it is not 1 period...It is just a little less...It is the number that is closest possible to 1...It is just a little short...Basically, its just not 1...Its just a "little off"...Its just not there yet... Case for TRUE 1. 1/3=0.3 repeating Times both sides by 3 1=0.9 repeating? 2. What is 1-(0.9 repeating)? 0? If its 0, then its 0.9 repeating must be 1 also... So does 1=0.9 repeating?

Actually

1.000-.999=

.001...

Not

.011 like you have it going...

Or

1.000000-0.999999=.000001

Not

.01111

So if it was 1=0.9 repeating, then what?

Don't tell me 1/3 doesn't equal 0.3 repeating...You could divide 1 by 3 yourself, and you'll get an infinite amount of 0.3 repeatings... And if you do times that by 3, you got 0.9 repeating, while 1/3 becomes 1... And What is 1-0.9 repeating then?

What were you trying to answer with that...

Yes, it's like this:

Take a point that is 20 feet from a wall, you move it half the distance to the wall (10 ft), if you keep halfing your distance, you will never reach the wall.

This isn't true because multiplying 1/3 by 3 = 1, but 0.3 by 3 = 0.9, they don't equal because fractions in some cases, like 1/3, are just rounded decimals.

1-0.9 is 0.1 repeating.
