Re: Why did Portland Fans boo Yao so badly?
I can't speak for everybody, but I like Yao overall, but booed him because of how frustrating it was that Oden and Przybilla were getting 4-6 fouls per game while Yao was in way more minutes, and fouled Roy very often when Roy drove to the hoop. The second game from my perspective felt like he got to 4 fouls and then was allowed to do whatever he wanted like the refs were afraid to foul him out because he brings ratings or something. I know Oden and Przybilla did earn a lot of their fouls, but it just felt like Yao got away with a lot. Everytime that Yao hit a guy and had a teammate near by, the refs gave the foul to somebody else on Houston like they were admitting there was a foul, but decided to spread Yao's fouls around on other guys. Roy would drive and if Yao hit him with nobody else near, no foul. If Roy drove and Yao hit him with a teammate near by, that teammate would get the foul instead of Yao. So yeah, that was my frustration and my reason for booing Yao.
Though now I'm hoping Yao gets the benefit of the doubt by the refs so that Houston can beat the Lakers for me.
