Amare got in foul trouble a lot in November and most of December. I think one problem is he's often out of position, and when his man gets the ball, he tries to defend from that bad position - resulting in a foul. He's my favourite player but I think he needs to learn defensive positioning from someone like Duncan or Sheed.
Early in the season, D'Antoni noted how often Stoudemire would tire and go into a stiff, stoic stance for periods, allowing opposing big men to post up deep and lure fouls.
The coaches have not seen that Stoudemire lately.
"It's not there anymore," Stoudemire said of the right knee stiffness he talked about in November after October's arthroscopy. "I feel healthy. I feel good from the start of the games. Even before I go into the locker room, I feel better than I normally did the first 15-20 games. It's a matter of working hard and staying in the weight room to get stronger."
Pacific division champs
Narrow escape in the first round against the Rockets 4-3
2nd round exit vs the Lakers 3-4
More excuses from D'Antoni and the SUNS brass that we need to get tougher and better defensively.
Another off-season spent getting better offensively while shaving payroll.
