I would agree, for football that is, that it is reasonable then, specifically for the linemen. Backs and recievers not so much.
Otherwise, I was hoping to give him another perspective of weight gain, muscular or not, if this is solely for basketball. Even the "big men" IMO, would benefit from not necessarily gaining wieght, but working specific strenth and power gains solely.
