Re: FBI File on Wilt Chamberlin- Gambling on nba games
I don't think betting is as malicious as some make it out to be. Yes, it is a problem if the game is fixed and/or manipulated to a certain outcome. But things such as "I bet I score 50 points on this team" and things of that nature, I take as COMPETITIVE bets ... bets where you're not so much in it for a winning, but for bringing someone down through good, hard competition. I bet like that all the time. It's betting w/ your heart, which is stupid if you want to win the bet, but it's also the good bet because it makes you feel good when you win ... and it has little to do with the financial reward.

Apparently, this has been available on the Internet for some time. With the Freedom of Information Act, FBI files on famous persons are often sought.
Anyhow, I looked through it, and it all seems shoddy; it's a bunch of unreliable hearsay and wild assumptions. There's no evidence that Wilt Chamberlain had any involvement in gambling on basketball games.
Moreover, I suspect this was part of Hoover's racist FBI agenda to discredit prominent Black Americans.
