Default have you ever tried to predict a players greatness based on their name?

great players usually have stand out names. unique names. different but cool sounding.

    michael jordan
    kobe bryant
    larry bird
    magic johnson
    shaquille oneal
    tim duncan
    jerry west
    hakeem olajuwon

i knew anthony bennett would be a bust. he doesnt have as nice a sounding name as a guy like nerlans noel ... you already know hes gonna go beast mode when he comes back

russell westbrook? james harden? lebron "king james? those sound made up. they were meant to fallow an nba script

its not unheard of for sh*ty names to become great. but its rare

so going based on probables. these guys have a better chance to be legends

    - andrew wiggins
    - jabari parker
    - marcus smart
    - julius randle
    - doug mcdermott
    - arron gordon
    - adreian payne
    - rodney hood
    - shabazz napier
    - KJ mcdaniels
    - glenn robinson

    than these guys

    - joel embiid
    - dante exum
    - noah vonleh
    - dario saric
    - elfrid peyton
    - jusuf nurkic
    - nick stauskas
    - zack lavine
    - tj warren
    - gary harris
    - clint capela
    - tyler ennis
    - jordan adams
    - pj hariston
    - kyle anderson

    etc...

if i were drafting. i'd try and use premonitions or try and visualize the name being told minute after minute during a game... a name can jump out at you. and other ones youd have a hard time believing theyel be on the tip of everyones tongue

like imagine if kobe bryants name was actually kyle anderson. would you believe a guy like him could have such a boring name?

    never

LOL I noticed this too, that NBA players have cool sounding names. But I doubt it effects their performance. You're on crack my friend

i dont think it effects their game as much as it makes the media promote them or give them more coverage, exposure. and thus generating more buzz and the player gets more touches and playing time. leading to more opportunities to show and grow into a potential legend

    still think im crazy?

the media and league manufactured allot of guys over the decades... i'm sure some non cool sounding name players could have done just aswell but were never given the plateau to showcase their game

a guy with a boring name isnt fun for the media to talk about lol

    You are definitely onto something.

However, my question remains, are you under the influence?

    Hmm...

You're definitely right, though...some people in life are given better opportunities than others. Just because someone is perceived a certain way, it doesn't mean they're above others if they both had that same opportunity.

look at how shitty of a player robert sacre is... only reason hes still in the nba is because commentators love saying "SACRE BLEU!"

if his name was " robert thomas"... he'd be cut by now

Lol I have always thought of this shit.

Jabari Parker and Dante Exum should both be pretty good based off of their names. And what a coincidence, both have already signed deals with Foot Locker and Jordan brand.
