Default "Who" is "Best Available Talent"...at # 3 ?

Forgetting "need"...who is the best available talent at # 3 ? If Billy stays true to form...he "will" select the player who, in his judgement, is the best talent available as that will give the Hawks the maximum team talent pool. Trades...can always follow...if they have not already been agreed to by Draft Day.

Go Billy...Go Hawks

We def. need Conely. We can not afford to go after the best talent. But to answer the OP's ? it would have to be Brandon Wright. So if the #4 wants him I say bluff at taking him and trade down to #4 and try to get something else.

Conley ??

We saw him play for 1 year. And he played on one of the best teams with the best BIG MAN in the country.
Take away Oden and you guys don't even hear of Conley until he's a Jr.

He's not good enough to take at #3 -

Acie law at # 11 is a great pick , if he gets to us.

Why not take both and trade Lue and Speedy for some Veteran C. Let Law and Conely battle it out for PG.

I believe Brandon Wright has the potential to be the 3rd best player in this draft, but then again that's what we heard with Marvin Williams, another North Carolina power forward who left early. As for drafting based on potential AND team needs, I would draft Mike Conley Jr at the #3 spot, and how about local college star Javaris Crittenton from Georgia Tech. He has the size to play both guard spots.

Anyone who watched the Bucks this year knows what talent Conley possesses. It's not that he played with Oden, it's what he exhibited at the PG position. He's young, but he's intelligent and could be the next Derron. The Hawks would be dumb to pass him up at 3 because Portland wants Conley and they'd probably be able to obtain the 4th or the 5th pick with Randolph + picks and filler.

Conley may not be WORTH a 3rd selection, but he fits a need better than anyone else.

conley is definitely not worth a top three pick. the best available talent at number 3 would be corey brewer. not only can he steal and rebound, he can also steal, rebound, and steal. that is why the hawks should pick brandan wright.

all this talk about conley relying on oden is wrong.
oden spent half the tourny on the bench in foul trouble and conley carried them

When I first heard the Hawks would be selecting #3 in the draft, I figured they should draft Mike Conley. Now that I think about it, Al Horford the 6'10" PF/C out of Florida would really be an excellent pick at #3. He can rebound and score in the post. Low post scoring is vital in order to make a run at a championship. Al Horford starting alongside Zaza Pachulia would be a solid front line. Al Horford and Shelden Williams would be a pretty solid front line as well. It would be very very hard passing up Mike Conley. The Hawks could also their #11 pick on PG Acie Law. Who is an excellent scorer and passer.
