Default Clips working a deal to get Miller from Yahoo Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to pry Mike Miller out of Memphis with an offer of expiring contracts that includes a package of Sam Cassell and Aaron Williams. The Grizzlies want the Clippers first-round pick in 2008, and so far, the Clippers are balking.

Only $44.0 million in guaranteed salaries for us next season. This year's cap was $55.6 million. If this trade goes through, guaranteed salaries will be at $36.1 million. Assuming this pushes through and the cap doesn't change (and it will). We have a total of $19.5++ million to spend on free agents, plus the yearly exceptions.

Not a lot of great young players to use that $19.5 million, except probably Josh Smith. Though the hawks might not be stupid enough to let him go.

Even if you can't spend the 19 mil this year, MEM can hold on to it for the next season, There is a min salary each team has to to have, I think it is in the 35 mil area. Hopefully they work some draft magic and/or tades to make FA want to come to MEM.

If we just hold on to that $19 million, who would want to watch Memphis?

PG - Conley / Lowry
SG - Draft Pick / Critt
SF - Gay / Jacobsen
PF - Warrick / Cardinal
C - Darko / Collins

A pretty nice running core. But it's not a team I would pay to watch. Stern does a lot to "protect the league's image" but doesn't do enough to make sure teams don't gut themself out like this.

I would love this for the clippers... My two favorite Grizz players on my L.A. teams.

Next Season:

PG - Livingston
SG - Miller
C - Kaman
SF - Al Thornton
PF - Brand

Wishful Thinking: Heck Yeah Would it be Awsome: Oh Heck Yeah

Plus didnt Grizz owner ask for salary dumpage?

Man if this would happen = Oh heck yeah...
