The answer Jazz fans have been looking is already on the team

Quote:
The Jazz need to try this type of thing with Dante Exum, as well. To begin the year Exum looked to be permanently locked into Quin Snyder’s doghouse again. Exum had 5 games playing less than ten minutes. A few of those games were because of garbage time, but there were a few that Exum had as quick a leash as he’s ever had.

Dante at the 4? O'Neale can play their because of his size and he's one of their best rebounders and shooters. Exum is none of those things

Quote:
Exum should return soon though and it’s in the Jazz’s best interest to give him as many minutes as possible, maybe even start. As important as Ricky Rubio was last season for Utah, this season opposing teams have decided to ignore him completely on the perimeter and focusing more defenders on the Jazz’s more potent wing scorers in Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles.

He was ignored completely last year as was Favors and Exum. Let's bring everyone back for more of that!

Quote:
With the easy schedule coming up, Quin Snyder needs to embrace the chaos because what may emerge is the difference maker the Jazz have been hoping for. Exum has signed a three year deal with the Jazz, it’s his turn to show what he can do. And that may be everything the Jazz have been hoping for.

there is the biggest problem. Quin. I'd start Thabo at the 4 and O'Neale at the 2. Rubio and Exum fighting for scraps behind Neto, Korver and Allen

Last year, Jazz coach Quin Snyder complained during the playoffs about fouls keeping key players out of the game, but stopped short of advocating for a rule change to allow players to have more than six fouls. However, there are many who think that players shouldn’t have to sit out for long stretches because of foul trouble, especially stars who fans pay to see. Perhaps there could be a modification to allow players with six fouls to stay in the game with the penalty of giving the other team extra foul shots or possession after a free throw on the sixth foul.

Rather see them not favoring stars anymore. They don't need more help

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Exum has now missed out on multiple bonuses in his contract related to games played.

anyone expect him to get his bonuses. Still 9 million!

Quote:
don’t understand why we need 4 point guards. Lindsey needs to put as much energy into finding players for the other 4 positions on the floor as he does looking for and collecting guys to run point.

They had 3 hurt!

Quote:
Unfortunately most of the league probably knows this too so he doesn’t have much trade value.
And considering how much time he’s missed, I don’t think he’s keeping other young players from developing.
If the team can use him in a trade to improve the roster, great. If not, his contract won’t be what keeps the team from competing for a title. He’s a relatively low risk low-medium reward prospect.

Could have had Conley as hard as that is to believe. 9-11 million could keep you from a title. That should be a good role player. He's not that

Every single one of the guys mentioned above has been the x-factor for the Jazz in at least a game or two this season. But then there are other games where they don’t get hardly anything from any of them. These games where they don’t get consistent production out of at least one or two of players in this pool are usually the games the Jazz get blown out. This is why Dennis Lindsey tried to make a move before the trade deadline, only to come up empty-handed and forced to roll the same squad back.

Not giving up Exum means he didn't really try

Thabo could be the X factor if they were smart. He'd start at the 4 and Favors would be the backup 5.

Eric Woodyard: Donovan Mitchell on Russell Westbrook’s role this season: “I think the biggest thing for him is he kind of took the Dwyane Wade approach when LeBron was there. He’s deferring a lot more and I think it’s shown in his game that he’s able to do that.“ – via Twitter E_Woodyard

“It’s just getting the rhythm of the season, I guess, and feeling my legs better as the season goes on,” said Rubio, who came into the break shooting 32.2 percent from 3-point range. “I try to be aggressive from the beginning, but I know the important part is now.”

It's all important. Conley knows that

Quote:
You can point to Snyder’s philosophy as one of the reasons.

You can point to Gobert. Could we please stop with giving others credit.

Quote:
Dante Exum partially participated in practice on Wednesday for the first time since his high-ankle sprain in early January. Before the injury, Exum was playing the best basketball of his career with averages of 9.1 points and 4.3 assists in his previous 12 games — many of which came against top Western Conference teams. Exum has been ruled out of Friday’s game against Oklahoma City, but he is nearing a comeback.

2 more weeks!

He has missed the past 17 games, where the Jazz have went 12-5, but the team is certainly missing his depth off the bench. The fourth-year guard is averaging 7.4 points, 2.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds this season.

Certainly?

Quote:
“I think when he’s playing well, he can have a big impact for us and having him back soon is going to help us a lot,” Jazz center Rudy Gobert said following Wednesday’s practice.

when has that been?

Remember when Steph Curry came out of college with a bad ankle injury and for several years early on with Golden State he was plagued with multiple - and serious - sprained ankles. Now look at him.

So...it's been just a nasty few years for Mr. Exum but the kid has serious skillz. I hope he gets healthy soon and plays up to his potential for many years to come.

what skills? He's a physical speciman. Basketball is more than that though

Hopefully Dante Exum’s consistent play can be a part of that, and the fifth-year guard can become a steady part of a nine-man rotation. The Jazz will likely end up between three and seven. Although some first-round matchups are preferable, there are no easy first-round opponents in the Western Conference and no team from two to eight that the Jazz can’t beat if they’re playing well.

Consistent Dante? Don't think they can beat OKC or Houston

Quote:
if if Utah can’t channel that continuity into consistent play leading to wins over playoff caliber teams, why would chemistry be a priority over aggressively acquiring better players? Having said that, I think a successful ending of the season is finishing between the fourth and sixth seeds.

because it's the Jazz

Quote:
Clint: Donovan Mitchell’s effective field goal rate. It’s a lot to ask for a second-year player with the offensive burden he carries, but it’s also what would transform the Jazz. Mitchell has the potential to be a high usage, high (or at least moderate) efficiency scorer. That’s the player who playoff defenses fear. That’s the player who would create offensive opportunities for everyone else on the roster, lifting their games. Pair that with Utah’s defense and the Jazz probably become the every Western team’s most dreaded playoff opponent outside of the Warriors.

bench Rubio, Favors and Exum

Quote:
Thatcher: Until the Jazz give up on him or he excels, the answer may always be Exum. While I am still a big fan, I’ve begun to recalibrate my expectations. I now view Exum’s ceiling as a very good defender that can switch with ease from 1 through 3, a strong driver and finisher, a good passer, and a passable shooter. I don’t know if he’ll become the future starting point guard of the Jazz, but he should at least be a valuable bench player and third guard. If he contributes more than 15-20 minutes a game this season, it will be because he is excelling, which will be a huge positive for the Jazz and their playoff hopes.

strong finisher and passable shooter?

Quote:
Dane: The role players. Players on the depth chart listed 6-9 will be able to get fairly significant playing time in some of these quote/unquote “easier” games. O’Neale, who has been fantastic of late will continue to see major minutes at the three and four positions. Re-integrating Exum and Thabo Sefolosha will be key in this playoff push. This lighter schedule should give the role players a chance to solidify themselves in the lineup before the playoffs. Giving the Jazz their full arsenal just in time.

Thabo hasn't even been playing

This does, however, mean that Utah’s bench is going to be pushed to its limits further as they have been struggling to find a playmaker off the bench who can get to the rim like Dante can. Raul Neto has been good in his return, but he is at a mismatch against larger (almost everyone in the league) guards. Here’s hoping Dante has a speedy recovery.

Tired of hearing this!. Neto has always been a ball player. Exum has mostly sucked as has Rubio

Quote:
They signed him to a contract when they were over the salary cap.
So who else would they have spent that non-existent cap space on that could only be used on an RFA or a player they held bird right’s to in your opinion?
