It's the Spurs System that will make him look better. Remember that Mike Brown was one of Popovich's Assistant Coaches, and he is now the best Coach in the Eastern Conference.

Great Acquisition for the San Antonio Spurs, and Gooden will really help them in the playoffs.

I think Stan Van Gundy is the best coach. Brown just has the best player.

Gooden has comparable level skills, definitely. Those two are catch and shoot players who are thriving because they have a dominant post presence and someone whose speciality (Parker) is driving to the basket and can pass really well, specifcially outside. The fact they fill their roles so well is admirable, but they are journeyman ballplayers made important cogs because they have great teammates who can use them properly and a great coach - it's not them.

the only thing with Gooden is his concentration level and defensive commitement are decidely UN spurs like and it's not that he won't (he's not a malcontent at all, he tries), it's almost he can't - so i dont see that changing.

He's a perfect fit for SA. Another light skinned, nice black guy

He has game. Don't listen to the haters. He has above average post moves, can hit the mid range with consistency, and can board and play better D than the haters pretend. I agree he'll lapse and be retarded sometimes, will have games where he's off and doesn't show up to play, but he can be a go to, and another finisher big man. If you haven't seen him play then i think you'll be pleasantly surprised given the hate he gets from Cav's fans mostly.

This means Bonner is going to revert back to the ginger benchy we are used to.

Popovich has shown what he can do with marginal talent when they buy into his system. But, can Gooden be taught??? This is what happens when an irresitible force meets an immoveable object.

i dont think Coach Pop would mess up the chemistry by doing that. At least not right away.

I wasn't a big fan of Gooden on the Bulls for a long-term solution, but he did play well for the Bulls in many games this year. I would be curious to see how well he can play with a talent like Duncan. He probably will surprise a few people.
