Re: Austin Rivers leaving Duke, going for NBA draft
Rivers reminds me of a young MJ, unproven, with a chip on his shoulder, ****y, if he get's drafted into the right situation I can see him average 28/6/5 on 52% fg 38% 3pt, he has an unstoppable offensive game. Coach K has been known to misuse players

Key word in my post was potential. Players who continue to suck, don't have potential.

*Usually more opportunities early on coming in as a top 10 pick vs a top 20 or top 25 pick (a top 10 pick is usually expected to start).
*As an NBA rookie, why piss away an extra 500k a yr?

There's tons of good guards ahead of him in this draft.
Regardless, he will probably go between 15-25, with the possibility of slipping lower if he has weak workouts.

He wants to come out early so he can face LeBron.

That would be perfect for him and his father as Celtics can draft him

He was supposed to be a phenom coming out of high school. While he had a pretty nice first season, suffice to say he didn't quite live up to his billing.

He didnt fit Dukes system. Handcuffed. His game fits the NBA better because he can create his own offense with his handles and quickness. I think he's mid first rd as well. Late lottery-just outside of it. But workouts could dictate how high he could go. We also cant rule out a team liking him for his pedigree and he going higher than some expect. So while a guy like Beal may be a nice shooting prospect, he doesnt have nearly as good handles as Austin to create his own shot/offense. Should be interesting to see where he gets drafted.

Re: Austin Rivers leaving Duke, going for NBA draft
I'd only want him on the Celtics if we got a good big man with our other pick. My perfect scenario is to package both our picks (#18 and #20 or something) with Avery to get a #9 or something, but I don't see anyone being dumb enough to do that in this draft.
As for his career? Jason Terry wouldn't be too far off what I see him doing.

Re: Austin Rivers leaving Duke, going for NBA draft
Why are you all surprised? Have you ever seen or read an interview of the kid? Arrogant would be a massive understatement. If it were allowed, he would go straight from high school, probably even do a Jeremy Tyler if his parents would let him.
