There has never been a player benefit more from a teammate than Pau Gasol...
Never in the history of the NBA has a player benefited more than Pau Gasol by playing with a particular teammate. (Kobe)
Before Kobe - Pau was considered a soft euro with zero ability to lead or win. (0-12 in the playoffs before Kobe)
After Kobe - Dude is considered the 56th best player of all time by ESPN. (Absolute joke)
Pau has very little testosterone and is a very soft, emotional player. He whines on nearly every possession and flails around like a soft ass homosexual when he's bodied. (Before Kobe)
Kobe gave him balls. Kobe made him. He was Shareef Abdur Rahim before Kobe.

Gasol has done more without Kobe, than Kobe has without Gasol.
Nothing you say can change that, Simon.

Pau Gasol was just a greasy european homo before Kobe mentored him

After Shannon Brown slept with his girl, he completely shut down and started playing the way he played before Kobe. It ended a dynasty.
Pau literally ended a dynasty because he reverted back to his soft floppy ass after Brown slept with his girl.

Gasol had a higher player efficiency rating, and more win shares on those 2009, 2010 teams than Kobe
Gasol was statistically better than Kobe. Gasol was the alpha, Kobe was the spoilt brat.
Those 2 FMVP's were the greatest robbery in NBA History

Kobe definitely made him a better player.
It's no coincidence that his TS% and ORTG saw a HUGE jump upward as soon as he joined the Lakers. That happens when you join up with the best offensive player in the world.
It's amazing how little credit he gets for instantly meshing with Pau. Literally from their very first game together...they looked like they had been playing together for years. The synergy was off the charts.

3/5 of the reason Kobe is considered a top 15 player is because of Shaq.
Also, Pau was much better without Kobe in the last few years. Clearly Kobe held him back.

Great college starter
Re: There has never been a player benefit more from a teammate than Pau Gasol...
Isn't it fair to say that Gasol and Kobe both benefited from each other? It's also fair to say Shaq and Kobe both benefited from each other, or any pair of great players who enjoyed great success together. No?
Obviously Kobe was a more established and decorated player when they joined, but that doesn't necessarily mean one benefited more from the other. If not for Gasol, Kobe might only have 3 rings and 0 FMVP's. If not for Kobe, Gasol might have 0 rings and only be a borderline HOFer. Either way, that's a pretty significant drop in status for each player.

Kobe benefited WAY more than Gasol did. Gasol is an intelligent man with several interests and talents that have nothing to do with basketball. You think he seriously gives a damn about being a HOFer?
Kobe on the other hand has NOTHING in his life outside of basketball. No friends, a failing brand, and a gold digging wife who's only with him for his money/fame. If Kobe had not won a single alpha dog ring despite dedicating his entire life to basketball, he might have committed suicide.
OP knows this too, which is why he made the thread.
