Default Dry Cleaning

So, I know to a lot of people this may seem like a dumb topic, but I've never had anything dry cleaned before. Now at work i've having to wear more shirts and ties than before and at home I actually have nice quilts and comforters now and not just cheap college type stuff. So i'm wondering what do you REALLY need to get dry cleaned and how often should you have it done and what are some typical costs for different things?

Default Re: Dry Cleaning

Items that require dry cleaning (for me)

1. My nice dress shirts (My cheaper ones get washed)
2. Any article of clothing that has been harmfully stained (ala red wine)
3. My dress pants
4. A blazer or designer winter jacket

And prices for every clean vary from item to item... You can generally get your basic dress shirt washed for 3-7 dollars pending on where you go

Default Re: Dry Cleaning

A lot of stuff doesnt HAVE to be dry-cleaned, but it will stay nicer longer if you do. So you have to kind of decide for each piece of clothing whether you wanna keep having it dry cleaned, or just replace it sooner.

A lot of clothes specify in the label too if they're machine wash or dry-clean only. Although like I said, even if you can machine wash them, they'll stay nicer for longer if you dry clean them.

Pants I say definitely dry clean. Machine washing isn't very good for dress pants. Ties obviously must be dry cleaned. Shirts you can generally do whichever you prefer, unless the label states otherwise.

It's definitely not cheap though to take a "load" of items to the dry cleaner, so depending on where your budget is be judicious with what you have done.
