Default Rangers trade Gomez; sign Gaborik and Brashear

Not much info on the trade, but Gomez is sent to Montreal for Christopher Higgins. Glen Sather owns Montreal on that trade, but then comes right back and sign Marian Gaborik(injury prone) and Donald Brashear(classless punk). Why Sather? You make one good move and then come back with 2 bad ones.

The Habs also signed Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta, while the Flames came to terms with Jay Bouwmeester. AKA the best young defenseman in the NHL. So now all summer Dion Phaneuf rumors are gonna be swirling.

Gomez (and his contract) is classic addition by subtraction.

As for being against the Gaborik move, that's nuts. He's not a super durable player but he's one of the best goal scorers in the league when he's healthy. Last year he missed a ton of time, but even if he only plays 50 games a year he's easily capable of scoring 25-30 goals.

Montreal made some good moves, though picking up Gomez was questionable. He's a good playmaker, but he's overpaid. I like that him and Gionta will be playing together again. Montreal should be a decent team next season. New Jersey, not so much.

As for Gaborik, he's good when he's healthy. Over the past 4 seasons, he has missed almost 20 games a season on average. Don't even go into Brashear. Can't stand him. He's right up there with Tie Domi.
