Question Jermaine O'Neal

What are your thoughts about his play so far this season? Do you think his knee/ankle will hold up, or will he be out for extended periods throughout the season? Do you think he is part of the Raptors long-term plans, and potentially signing him to a cheaper deal after next season? I'm interested to hear what other fans think of his play. I personally think he has been brilliant on the defensive end with his outstanding blocking ability and rebounding. Although I think his offensive game will lose some of it's rust as the season goes forth and Triano will run more more iso plays for him. Is 18-20ppg still a realistic goal for the former all-star or will he stay in the 12-14ppg all season.. I'm interested in hearing your opinions on his play and your thoughts on the future of JO in Toronto!

His defensive intensity has been a god send so far this season. Unfortunately in his case and in the case of all our bigs, they are getting burned contesting shots by opposing offensive rebounders.

Really wish the guards would come in and start covering for their big men. Players are getting blocks/misses and just getting the ball right back again because the Raptors' interior people are out of position contesting. This is also directly related to lack of perimeter defense which has already been touched on.

As far as offensive isolations, I do not think O'Neal is a very efficient offensive player anymore. I was hoping his FG% would improve with Bosh shouldering the load but his shot selection has been pretty mediocre. I'd be happy with 15-17 ppg but hopefully with an impending trade, Toronto won't need that kind of production.

JO has been very good.. looking back at our early success back in Oct/Nov, his contribution on D was immense. He's less aggressive now to stay out of foul trouble... but then again he can't be blamed coz the wingers are not doing their job

JO is the only one bringing the D night in and out. How can we say that he is bad? He's got the toughest job because everyone else always loses there man. He does all the dirty work that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. He's more balance while Chris on the other hand has been more one dimensional playing mediocre defense. If Chris stepped up and took defense as seriously as KG things could be looking a lot better.

Hopefully some of JO's philosophy rubs onto Chris and he becomes a force on both ends. But the entire team seems to rely on offense to win games.

Right now JO's biggest problem is getting into early foul trouble this really hurts the flow for his game. Everyone else needs to take some responsibility on there man to man defense.

Good defense he brings. Defensive anchor of the team. Early foul trouble though because guards particulary Calderon is getting beat off the bounce and they are getting in the lane and it causes the Bigs to alternate it and what might result to a foul
