Isn't it only because they have such poor facilities and a heck lot of them are still in poverty (thus can't afford to train or be an athlete)?
Jamaica has a lot of poverty and has less than 3 million people living on this island. They dominated the 2008 Olympics. India has over 1.2 BILLION PEOPLE. They have no excuse to be that horrible at Olympic sports. Plus, as we all know, India produces a lot of doctors...well, great for them, but their TRAINERS and SPORTS MEDICINE PEOPLE must suck, because their athletes arent getting any better. India = bad athletes, overrated doctors.

Agreed. I'm disappointed every time. And they've got all the key ingredients too. The workout facilties, the gyms, the rivers to swim, the desire to proceed, and they're not even that short.
I still can't believe not a single person of South Asian descent sans Raja Bell (and a few otherz) are in the NBA. It seems like every South or East Asian male in New England is into basketball.

Not surprising, but at least she was trying to get an edge. Most Irish athletes just want to depend on the "luck of the irish" and dont put enough work in.
Holy man nuts! I just realized how much of a FAILURE "Israel" is when it comes to sports. They have only a few total medals, EVER, and didnt win their first gold until 2004...and that was in windsurfing...let me repeat myself..WINDSURFING. With all of the U.S. assistance they get, maybe we should send over some of our athletes to breed future generations of Isreali's with some athletic genes.
India is far and away the laziest country when it comes to labour work. No surprise they suck in the Olympics, a rich Indian dude would probably offer me 100 bucks just to place a deodorant in his shopping trey.

I don't want to stereotype my Indian brothers and sisters, but there has to be some other explanation for their failures in athletics beside the BS excuses like poverty, lack of resources, and poor genetics.
