he and maxiell are pretty similar because they're both hustle/energy guys at this point.
the only problem is that with maxy's weight down I'm not sure he's going to be able to guard stronger PFs. He cant exactly play SF either. he just relies on his brute strength to score down low instead of post moves. he also needs to improve his defensive rebounding. his offensive rebounding is already fantastic. However, I think Maxiell might be better used as an energy guy off the bench. Possibly a sixth man of the year canidate on this squad at least. Most other teams he would be a starter.
Amir may be a little scrawny when it comes to holding his own man to man in the post but he is much quicker and a better shotblocker than Maxiell. He also seems to have a superior perimeter game to Maxiell. Joe Dumars claims he's even faster than Rip in a footrace. His atheleticism is pretty much the best in the league for his age group. He has already worked hard on a developing a go-to jump hook in the post, but he is just as capable of contributing in a Marionesque way soley off of rebounds and fast breaks. In my oppinion Amir could be an all-star if he continues to improve at the rate he has since he was drafted.
