Default MSN On Franks Potential Status And our moves over the summer

Quote:
With J-Kidd and Richard Jefferson elsewhere, and the Nets' proposed move to Brooklyn looking like a no-go, the pressure is on Lawrence Frank to produce a winning team right now. Yes, he's a nice guy and he works hard, but the Nets have run out of excuses and Frank is on the verge of running out of time.

Eduardo Najera brings aggressive defense and injury-prone limbs to New Jersey. Someday Jarvis Hayes will integrate his ornery defense and kinetic offense and become an incredibly valuable player. Someday Keyon Dooling will simmer down and let the game come to him.

In New Jersey, Yi Jianlian is still soft and defenseless, and Bobby Simmons is still a journeyman player with merely adequate skills in every category

I also don't think there's a great deal of expectations/pressure for Frank on this team either. But at the same time, the way I see it, two of the top 3 players on the team are gone, and Krstic who was also at one time considered part of "the big 4" bolted. Lawrence Frank isn't necessarily a bad coach, but I do see him being the next to go.

Yi is "still soft and defenseless"?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he just come off his rookie season in Milwaukee? Since when did anyone on that team play defense? Not Redd, not Bogut, DEFINITELY not Villanueva or Williams.

I'm sick of writers absolutely slamming Yi for his basketballing flaws. Yes, he has some, but the way some writers treat him, it's like he's a seasoned vet who'll never learn how to correct them. Can we give the guy a break?

i think most people with desire, work-ethic and high basketball IQ can pick up good team defense at the very least. even if he's slow afoot it sure can't hurt that he's seven feet tall.

i'm not a yi expert by any means, but from reports it sounds like he needs to work on some way to punish defenses offensively who take away his midrange jumper.

I love Yi offensively but on D... he is wimp. I mean thank god we have Lopez and Boone because when we go against a team with a dominant Big... our eyes will bleed.

I remember in preseason Randolph going for a layup and Yi turning around an letting Randolph make it... still boggles my mind why Yi doesnt comfront his man in the post... it is an ugly site... If he can just bulk up a lil' bit... watch out... for now he is only a good player offensively
