I know, they said how great he played in his first game where he got 2. Sure he lead a winning team (in summer league) but I was a bit suspiscious. If he really only got 1 in the second game then that flags up something to watch in the next few games.
If you watch these games one thing to point out is looking at the stats is a small part of the games. DJ played very well in limited minutes. I think you'll see more and more minutes given to the guys who will be on the team towards the end of the week.
An article about DJ. Talks about how chemistry is hard to establish with so many players getting PT, but assists will go up and turnovers will go down with time. Also that he gets to the rim with ease.
Saying Bayless is more like Felton isn't really a diss. You want variety in your team. You dont want a team that plays the same style of basketball.
Think about it, if everyone on the team played like Gerald Wallace, we may be a highlight reel team, but half the team would be out for the year with concussions, broken collar bones, etc., our free throw shooting would be lackluster (still is, but I'm trying to make a point), and we wouldn't have a lot of help from outside.
Felton is a scorer. He runs the game well. Augustin is a passer. His job is to set up the plays. He also runs the game well, but from a pass-first perspective. Now, before you bash me and say, "Well, he's only had 3 assists in 2 games." That may be true, but Lebron James didn't do everything we expected him to do when he played his first couple of summer league games.
I hope to watch the game. I don't particularly care for the refereeing either but the announcer beats the heck out of the two bozos whom we had to listen to last summer in Orlando! I noticed that Bobby Brown, who was on the Cats summer league team last year, is still making the rounds but on another team. I was somewhat impressed with him and another guy named Gabriel last year. Ring a bell with anybody?
