Something that was a complete joke, then Yanukovitch turned to Russia, people started protesting yada, yada, yada, crimea crisis.

Dear America

Crimea is not historically part of Ukraine.

There really isn't a legitimate reason for Ukraine to hold onto that region beyond the fact that they got it when they broke off from Russia in the early 90s.

If you really want to give the country back to the people who deserve it it should go to the Crimean Tatars who were forcibly removed by Stalin. Of course that won't happen anytime soon b/c (A) they are ethnic Muslims and (B) got ejected from the country b/c some of them thought siding with the Nazis to remove the USSR (which is what the cause for their deportation) was a good idea.

I don't think U.S questions whether Crimea should be part of Russia or not. What U.S questions is how this was done by Russia. You block the border, military bases and the local government. You give guns to Russian ethnic groups and stage some conflicts between different ethnic groups.

How come a year ago nobody wanted to join Russia in Crimea? But now once the Russian military was in the region and huge media war was started by the Kremlin now they all want to be part of Russia (around 95%). Seems just so wrong. Thing is if this incident goes without any replies from western governments then a dangerous precedent is made.
