Might not be on a Top 5 passer list, but shout out to Rick Barry.

Shaq a greater passer than Russell, Kareem, or Chamberlain?

Give me an example of a "stats-padding" Chamberlain...

I think he may be referring to 67' vs 68'.

Well, judging by his comments, I don't think he was. He was probably referring more to Wilt's "scoring" seasons.

Having said that, however, I have red comments by some, most notably Bill Simmons, who claimed that Wilt "stats-padded" his way to an assist title in '68 (although no one in their right mind has ever made that claim about his 7.8 apg average in '67...which included a 9.2 apg average in the post-season.) True, Wilt set out to win the assist title, but I don't see a problem with that. He was basically on a mission to pass the ball to his teammates. And Simmons' never mentions the fact that Chamberlain's efforts resulted in leading his Sixers to a runaway best record in the league for the second straight season.

My only problem with that season is that he wasn't always playing to win. He was visibly passing up better looks in favor of more assists. 67' by comparison was a natural display of passing genius within the flow of an efficient (+6.7)offense.

Perhaps, but his Sixers romped to the best record in the league in that '68 season. I certainly don't think it hurt his team at all. And before someone jumps in and claims that they folded in the post-season, they sustained devastasting injuries in the playoffs, and even Wilt, himself, was nursing a variety of injuries. And with all of that, they still only lost a game seven in the ECF's, by four points.
