Lets get everyone healthy before we throw in the towel on this season.
Starters:
PG - Baron Davis
SG - Landry Fields
SF - Carmelo Anthony
PF - Amare Stoudemire
C - Tyson Chandler
6th Man - Iman Shumpert
Bench:
Toney Douglas
Josh Harrellson
Mike Bibby
Bill Walker
Jared Jeffries
Renaldo Balkman
Steve Novak
D League:
Jeremy Lin
Jerome Jordan
Needs:
1. Another SG or for Landry Fields to find his 3PT shot. We're really in need of a SG who can spot up and knock down the 3 to help with our issues with spacing. I dont think we should immediately start shopping Landry Fields for a "spot up shooter", not unless we get a better prospect in return. If we turn to the Free Agent ranks, there is always the likes of Rashad McCants & Eddie House who are available. In the D-League, there is Manny Harris, Morris Almond, Moses Ehambe, & Jeremy Hazell. If we wait for a player to return from Overseas, options include JR Smith & Sasha Vujacic(if he opts out of his contract).
2. Kenyon Martin. Another issue is our lack of a 3rd big man. No disrespect to Jorts or Jared Jeffries, but we need another PF who can come in the game and log 20-30 minutes if necessary. Martin missed 1/2 of last season but when he returned he established himself in Denver at the PF position, culminating with Martin averaging 11.8/7.8 in the Playoffs for Denver. What we need from Martin is the toughness he brings on the floor as an enforcer as well as his good man defense. The addition of Kenyon Martin would allow us to have a 3 man rotation of Amare/K-Mart/Chandler in the frontcourt depending on our matchup. We could play Kenyon Martin at PF and Amare at C, which is where Amare is at his most comfortable on offense, for more of a scoring output. If we need more interior defense we can play Amare or Kenyon Martin at PF with Tyson Chandler playing C. Splitting their minutes will hopefully cut down on the wear & tear of 3 big men with a history of knee issues.
We'll Be Fine.
Im not expecting a NBA Championship, but I dont see why we cant reach the ECF if we can remain healthy, fix our current issues with our lineup, and then get going.
D'Antoni remains a major issue but he has a season to fix things.
Melo needs to stop being a god damn chucker.. Get your teammates involved, he's a black hole.
Amare needs to be a post player and not a perimeter player, he's way too talented.
Shumpert needs to control himself and stop taking so many shots
We basically lost our best and most consistent bench player this season
The fact that this statment is true is all you need to say when anyone asks you why we're so bad. No disrespect to Jorts. He's playig his ass off but he CANNOT be your best bench player. Sorry.
