It had been nearly a month since Alec Burks played in the first half. The Jazz guard whose opportunities seem to come only at the expense of a teammate’s health checked into the second quarter of the Jazz’s 97-93 win over Orlando.
The Jazz (15-14) trailed by 14. By the time the half ended, with Burks still in the game, the Jazz had cut the deficit to 47-46.
Burks played a season-high 20 minutes and scored eight points. Coach Tyrone Corbin said he got the nod over DeMarre Carroll because the Jazz lacked offensive punch with point guard Mo Williams sidelined with a thumb injury.
Jazz need D. Calderon would be a perfect fit offensively under Jerry but maybe Lowry would be better under Ty? He certainly defends better than about anyone at his position other than maybe Westbrook and the Jazz are horrible at that end now. He was a borderline all-star before he got hurt last year. His injuries would be a concern but he is a bargain. Could be worth Burks and picks if that's what it takes.
This works. 2 expiring contracts(possible buyout of Bell) and I believe Murphy's is not guaranteed for a couple weeks(Tinsley too if they made a trade soon). Throw in whatever other assets to make it work. They gave up a lottery for Lowry so they probably want more.

I'd say throw in Burks, but he's completely useless for the Raps with DeRozan and Ross on their team. Give 'em GS 1st rounder or a lottery protected pick from the Jazz.
Looks pretty good. I'd rather hold on to Burks but he wasn't playing and was rumored to be on the block is the only reason I even mention him. He's playing now but at the cost of Demarre. Need to trade Marvin if possible. He's not 7-8 million better than Carroll. Toronto doesn't look like they need him but who knows what they want. They're a mess!
One source close to the situation said Friday that Bargnani remains "a lock to be moved." That naturally
depends on finding a taker for the underachieving Italian forward, but Lowry's
contract shouldn't be too hard to attach to a trade, valued at $5.8 million this
season and with only $1 million guaranteed of the $6.2 million he's owed next
season. ESPN.com
Only a million guaranteed next year. Looking better by the minute!
