I don't like Heat comparisons. I think Amar'e's better than Bosh, but LeBron and Wade were arguably 1 and 2 in the league last season, and LeBron especially is an incredible versatile and effective player (cue the, "except for in the fourth quarter" jokes). And as redundant as their games may be, it's even more the case with Amar'e and Melo, except a tier less talented. Maybe the Knicks will turn it around, and maybe Boom will the "missing piece", so to speak, but I don't think the Knicks are making the Finals anytime soon.

Really? They won like one more game than us. I agree about the Knicks but Denver's Post Melo success has been greatly exaggerated. Not to mention, people underestimate the impact of Ty Lawson being a starter now.

Yeah he's good. It's a PG league, and Denver has two good ones, and a lot of other solid playmakers.

The Knicks have a cadaver that used to be Mike Bibby.

Talent wins in the playoffs and that's why you won't see the Sixers or Pacers winning the East.

They are both young, athletic deep team. That's great to have in the regular season, especially with this schedule.
But you aren't winning anything with a 9-10 solid players.
It can get you into the playoffs, maybe into the 2nd round but that's as far as you can go.

Knicks have enough talent in their core do to big things, now they need to do the next step and surround that core with a solid role players and proper coaching.

I agree.Depth builds records. Superstars win series. Theres only been one team, in the last decade, to win a ring without a star. The Pistons. And to be honest, I stand by my declaration that their ring was kind of a fluke. Sure they played well but let's be honest, the Lakers feud lost them that title. Bottom line is, people are basing what we need to do on an NBA of 3 years ago. LA and Boston aren't the kingpins anymore. Teams are getting superstars in their prime, surrounding them with young, talented roleplayers and getting young, talented coaches to relate and build with them. We need to get with the times. We have two stars. That's a start. Now lets go get a solid young core and a quality coach. Let's stop throwing our money at the biggest names in free agency and the coaching market. We already blew our load on Tyson. I have a feeling we'll do the same and try to get Phil Jackson or Jeff Van Gundy.

Let Baron increase his stock. If the team's situation is as bleak by then, you almost have to entertain trade offers.

It's a meaningless stat but still:

tomhaberstroh Tom Haberstroh
Random note: With a 16.3 player efficiency rating, Amare Stoudemire wouldn't even rank in the top ten for rookies in PER.

tomhaberstroh Tom Haberstroh
NYK kicker: Players who have a higher PER this season than Amare Stoudemire: David Lee, Al Harrington, Anthony Randolph ... Renaldo Balkman.

He's kinda running out of time to do that. He'd literally have to come out the gate putting on a show to garner any interest.
