The Nuggets' deal to sign Linas Kleiza to a contract extension has fallen apart and he will become a restricted free agent next summer, his agent said Friday.

Anyone else ever imagine where we would be if we pulled the trigger on the artest for kleiza/najera deal last season? Seriously....we would be one of the better teams in the west.

The Nuggets management refused to sign him, Kleiza wasnt opposed to the deal. Chances he can play overseas are there as well.

Indeed. Artest looked real great out there against the Mavs. You could tell he was motivated and playing his heart out. Artest is one of the best two way players in the L

OneMoreSucka is right.

If we ain't gonna get Kleiza back next year we could've gotten Artest. We would have had one sick of a lineup and now that Stephon Marbury is rumored to thinking about coming to the Nuggets we would have an all star team.

Hey, we're all passionate fans here. Seeing players go is never easy. Andre, Earl, Yakhouba, Eddie, Marcus. I still miss those guys. Even though this team is dysfunctional as hell at times, if it were up to me, I'd keep most likely everyone on our current roster forever if I could, for reals. Well, except for Chucky Atkins, god he has done absolutely nothing but eat up $6 million. **** you Atkins!

Well this will make Kleiza in his contract year, so maybe he will play with a little more urgency. I don't really see any teams making a play for him in the offseason anyway...maybe a team rebuilding? Not many teams can afford 25 mil, and he may even ask for more after.

i can't see anyone signing kleiza for starters money, he's not complete enough. he shoots the three and can attack the basket off the pass. he's got no handles and can't defend the post (perimeter d is pretty solid). i think he's reached his full potential and it was probably a wise decision not to give him a big contract. if we can get a point guard for him we need to do it.

No smart GM is signing big contracts in 2009 if they don't have to.

Look for him to make just around the MLE. Denver should be able to keep him for about $6M.

I think he's just in a slump. He'll break out of it when we play in a game that we're winning in a blowout.

What makes Kleiza so good? He can drive to the hoop? He has CLUMSY handles, theres a hundred SFs that we could pickup that could drive (Balkman, Jones).

He CANNOT hit threes, he couldn't hit threes last season, the guy is worthless to the team, we do NOT need another slasher, we need another guy that can hit the three. The things this team does are unbelievable to me, were getting killed on the glass and balkman doesn't come in? Karl is a terrible coach, he's already making stupid STUPID moves.

Karl needs to kill Kleiza's minutes until he proves that he deserves them, what kind of message is it sending to the team? Perform wonderfully like Balkman and you sit on the bench, clank a hundred threes in clutch time and you get 25 minutes?

Retarded. We have the personnel to win we just don't use them correctly, Karl does NOT understand matchups.

I hope you're right. It's evident that he's been really struggling these past 3 games. 0-10 from the 3-pt line? Yikes! I don't know how much the contract issue is affecting his play, but if he continues to play like this, then the move by the management might not have been as crazy as it first seemed.
