I don't underastand what you are saying?

do you think they said "woah, we don't need him at all" and then signed him???

obvioulsy they signed the guy in an effort to improve their defense...right???

I also don't see how you could possibly have any know of what teams were or were not looking at the guy...

When you sign Albert Haynesworth you say "looks like the Redskins are really trying to improve their defense", not Roy Williams.

It's like when the Eagles got Rashad Baker. Of course they didn't look at it like "woah we don't need him at all" but you didn't hear anybody saying "wow, the Eagles look like they're really trying to improve their defense with this move".

This is nothing more than a small signing. Of course it could improve them, but any player could. You don't look at Roy and get that "wow this guy is really going to help them out, great signing!" feeling.

obviously this is no where near the Haynseworth signing but I am still seeing threads on this being made on NFL forums and I am seeing it being talked about on ESPN...

it isn't like people aren't talking about it or anything...

but yeah, this is no 8 year-$100 million dollar deal or anything like that, if that is all you are trying to prove...

It's newsworthy because of the name added to the team, not because of the talent.

that has yet to be seen dude...

HE DIDN"T PLAY LAST YEAR!!!

and the year before that he started and Dallas won 13 games with him and he made the probowl!!!

this is part of why I think that Roy Williams is the most underrated saftey in the NFL...the rumor that he is "garbage" has spread so amazing fast to the point that every NFL fan on the planet has it implated in their brain that the guy just flat out sucks and can't play football or something...

it would be nice to get the percpective of a fan that isn't from the NFC East on this...

Carbine???...you got anything to say???

Precisely. Roy Williams hits people really hard and makes ESPN Top 10 and pro bowls. He's not a complete safety at all. He's a massive liability in coverage. He's like an NFL tweener if there was ever one. He's too small for a linebacker and can't cover like a starting caliber safety should be able to.

I am reading that people think Zimmer just plans to use him on starting downs/short yardage...

you won't see him in on 3rd and long unless he is blitzing...

Why do you keep saying this like it's some sort of great point? Football is a team sport and Roy was a small part of winning 13 games.

Because people act as though he was giving up 14 pts. every game or soemthing...

just pointing out that his "lack of coverage" didn't seem to hinder us at all from winning games...that's all...

he also made the probowl that year...and that was THE LAST YEAR HE PLAYED!!!...he didn't play last year...

I am not sure what group you fall into, but there really are NFL fans that don't watch the games and REALLY do think he is "garbage"...as in like the worst saftey in the NFL...

YES, he did give up 2-3 deep passes that year...NOT 20 OF THEM!!!

the dude is still just 28 years old...I just really think that the Roy hatred has gone VERY overboard...

unfortunatly at Cincy I am thinking it will be very hard for him to redeem himself but they have made alot of improvements on their D through the draft and they also signed Tank...who is probably very underrated as well because he didn't really get a chance to play in Dallas due to Ratliff...
