Default Okafor's injury bug is gone

I hope he is right. He also says he thinks that his injuries kept him off Team USA. But if Okafor can play 70+ games, this will be a great season for us.

Good find. Okafor playing 70+ games this year is one of the key ingredients for us to make the playoffs.

I'm a little confused...the ankle injury was season before last? Maybe they were talking about last spring when he was still recovering...dunno. I do remember an online chat with Bernie where we'd heard nothing about Mek's progress and someone asked him a question. Bernie says something like "well, I can see him practicing right now and he's looking good to me".

Either way, good to hear Mek is feeling as strong as ever.

We've been waiting for how many years now for Mek to show that he's worth all the hype? IMO this coming season is his last chance to redeem himself--to play consistently and justify his existence. But I also think that the new season gives opportunities for all our guys to shine; with another year under their belts, a winning attitude and new coaches, I'm not sure that any of us really know what to expect!

Wow. I mean, Mek hasn't been able to stay very healthy but when he has played, he has been great. Really, when you look at May and Ammo, you can't get upset with what we have gotten out of the guy.

Don't get me wrong--I think that Mek is a good player but I just can't generate any enthusiasm for him, at least not like the first season. I'm much more enthusiastic about some of our other players. But I am loyal and open-minded and very excited about the upcoming season.

I understand where you're coming from. For the first two years, Mek was everything to the team. Last year, Wallace took some of the load off. Now with Carroll, Herrmann and Richardson poised for big years, Mek kinda gets lost in the mix. He's still a highly important piece to the puzzle, but the team will rely on him much less than before.

I would argue that he and Felton are the two most important players on this team. My arguement is based off the fact that we have 5-6 players who can play the wing positions (more or less) but we only have 1 quality frontcourt player in Mek and Felton is really the only option at point. I'm not trying to downplay the importance of G-Dub or JRich, but if either Mek or Felton are injured, we are much worse off than if one of the other two are injured.
