Nice to see Balkan people here.
How do you feel about the situation in Kosovo?
Personally I hate when religion interferes with state. It annoys me that some people can not practice their religion without interfering with other people's lives and it annoys me further when religion causes divisions amongst an ethnic group. I do not want to brag, but Albanians, compared to the Former-Yugoslav states, are much more tolerant in this regard. 3 major religions (Islam, Catholicism and Orthodoxy) are found in Albania and I would even say the majority of the people are Atheists/Agnostic. The Serbs, Croats and Bosnians on the other hand all belong to 3 different religions, yet, can not get along even though they share the same language and other cultural traits. Yes nationalism is a bigger cause for this division, but religion plays a big role.
As for Kosova, I support it's independence because independence is the only alternative that is feasible. Albanians 20 years ago only wanted Autonomy and once they were stripped of this right, there were mass protests. To ask the Kosovar people to go back to autonomy is a slap in the face for what they have suffered. Logically speaking, Kosova is well over 90% Albanian, and honestly the Serbs (given their historical record) will never be able to rule the Albanians without a mass deportation or huge assimilation. The major problem is the Kosovar gov't is still new and it's hands are tied behind it's back. They are not able to deal with the Serbian seperatist in the Northern region that refuses to recognize the new government. I understand that they do not want to be ruled by Albanians, but the state they are in is multi-cultural and Serbs have more rights then other minorities in the region. I honestly wish the best for all Kosovars, including Serbs and Albanians.
What are your thoughts about Macedonia? Do you foretell a split up or do you feel the EU will solve all the border problems?
