However, if you're in high school, it would be socially weird to date someone two grades below you.

It could make it look like you are an outcast in your own grade and that's why you went for someone 2 grades lower. At least that's how it was at my school...and for the most part it was true...we had a few people senior year who would talk to sophomore girls and the reason they did was probably because they were not able to get anyone in our own grade.

All the guys in my grades banged and dated juniors and especially sophomores my senior year. By the time you're a senior the girls in your grade are all old news. Lol. During their teens girls reach physical maturity slightly earlier than boys do. That's it, it has no ramifications for an adult relationship and says nothing about the maturity level as an adult. That men tend to date younger and women tend to date older has entirely different reasons.
