Default I Just Called My Senator....

and urged him to vote against S. 3804. S. 3804, a bill that would set up the first Internet censorship regime in the United States, allowing the Attorney General to force American ISPs to block certain websites. This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. I urge you to do the same.

Sometimes you must weigh the circumstance rather than tow the letter of the law. Much like the prohibition on yelling 'fire' in a crowded theatre.

What kind of content is this legislation aiming to block?

The bill threatens sites like Youtube, Wikileaks, Justin.TV, Demonoid etc, and will be a substantial blow against net-neutrality. The RIAA is throwing it's muscle behind the bill.

That would be up to the people in power. Whatever the hell they want seems to be the best answer to that question.

My Senator is voting on the committee that gets the first crack at the bill. I don't like the idea of the federal government being given this power. Supposed small-government activists should be against this bill, but are some of its biggest supporters.

Without taking sides on the issue I give you much credit for calling your senator and getting involved. People don't realize what a difference they can make with their vote, their voice, and most importantly their wallet.

Did you by chance send it to Herb ?

(For years I've been sending him e-mails telling him I want front row seats because I voted him into the senate)
