Well, I would say that these moves are good for us long term, though they may end up hurting us in the short term (next season). Johnson and Croshere were vets who have contributed to the Pacers. Johnson in particular will be missed, and his departure leaves us with some question marks.
However, I think that acquiring Daniels will, in the long run, be a very good move for the Pacers. I think he should be our starting SG for the future, and he brings defense, ball handling, and passing that we desperately need in the backcourt. The rest of the guys (Armstrong, Powell, etc.) seem like short term acquisitions and salary cap relief. Overall, I think Daniels is enough to justify parting with Croshere and AJ, and he should be an important player for us for some time.
