Default Najera to be Moved: :-)

Quote:
The New Jersey Nets have agreed to trade Eduardo Najera(notes) to the Dallas Mavericks for forwards Kris Humphries(notes) and Shawne Williams(notes), sources told Yahoo! Sports Friday night.
The deal won’t be officially completed until Monday, after which the Nets will buy out Williams’ contract. Williams was sent away in training camp by the Mavericks and hasn’t played this season.
Too bad we are getting rid of Sean as well. I hope he gets it together somewhere else and soon.

from fred kerber's blog, this pretty much says it all:
Quote:
NEW ORLEANS – A Nets executive was watching Sean Williams go through his pre-game routine recently and raised a very valid point.

"Watch Sean warm up," he said. "Have you ever seen him work on things he actually can use in a game?

Hey, you never know when he's going to be called on for a 45-foot jumper.
and

...the bad outweighed the good. He was late at times, unfocused at others. The Nets sent him to the D-League last season in an attempt to resurrect his career. This was a disaster of Biblical proportions, one that followed him and will have him unemployed Monday.

"He acted like a (bleep)," said a member of the Nets hierarchy. "Took shots from halfcourt, threw balls into the crowd."

Even worse, he did it at the D-League showcase where reps of every NBA team were observing. They tend to remember things like that.
because it's not so much his pot, violence, arrest and irresponsibility issues that get me. at least those can improve as one grows up. it's the fact that williams spent his first three years in the NBA not improving his game in any way that mattered. must be having such god-like athleticism that a team is willing to hang on to you for this long despite all else.

IMO good players make their biggest leap in skill from their rookie to their 2nd seasons, like lopez and CDR. williams blew three seasons and has nothing to show for it... unforgivable.

Nice.

I never really liked Najera. A regular sized pf should do fine here in NJ... Yes we got that rebounder!

Totally agree.. after watching Humphries play last night against the clippers...the dude got some skills on him. Strong, can score in the paint, rebounds, an excellent role player. Good pickup for the nets
