Default How the hell will we stop Kobe?

or Gasol for that matter. Especially without Bosh on the court...

I absolutely hate to say it and sound pessimistic, but my guess is that Kobe goes off for 40+ by late 3rd or early fourth, Gasol has a minimum of 25/10, and both of them sit out the majority of the 4th as the Lakers coast to a 15+ pt win. Someone convince me of how we stand any sort of chance in the game?

edit, oh by the way, horrible news I just saw this in NBA.com's power rankings
Quote:
: Toronto (14) 34-28 Off: 112.6 (7), Def: 108.1 (11) -- The Raps are 2-4 (counting the game he got hurt) since Chris Bosh went down with a sore knee (struggling more defensively than offensively), and he could be out their entire five-game Western swing, which starts with the Lakers on Tuesday.

I suppose one can only hope that they underestimate us as they did the Kings, and that we have a game reminiscent of the game vs. the Celtics where nothing misses.

We won't stop him. Nobody can in the league and we won't be any different.

A few chocies:

-A strategically placed hotel maid.
- Trade Parker, Kapono, and some magic beans for Lebron
- Ultra Hard foul by Humphries to put him out the game.

Beyond that the Rap lack the personel to check him. Though I'm actually more worried about Pau. Even with Kpbe having a big night the Rap could still win if they were shooting hot..with a 2nd legit scorer we are kind of screwed.

Every single team in the league lacks the personel to stop Kobe.

He is one of the few very rare players that can do anything they want, to anybody they want, whenever they want.

add in the fact that the Lakers have vowed to play better tonight after the humiliating loss to the kings, I am pretty sure we're getting blown out...

If this was true he would have made it out of the first round without Shaq. Kobe is an amazing player...but he has been shutdown a few times. A team like Detroit, with a solid on ball defender (Prince, Rip) and good team D, can keep him in Check. Boston could also reign him in...not shut his down, but limit his offense.

He's good, but still a jump shooting guard, that can't finish at the rim at well as he used to. Quite possibly the best Jump shooting guard in the league, but that kind of offense is prone to streakiness, and can be limited by a dedicated double.
