MLK was a democratic socialist...

Of course socialism wasn't what he was mainly about - attempts at political recuperation can only obscure his radical commitment to racial equality...

Just as they can only obscure his radical commitment to the principles of Christianity. MLK is arguably the most Christ-like figure in modern times - what you would imagine a Christ of flesh and bone would actually look like in a world where mythology has to contend with recorded fact.

It's not a coincidence that Bernie Sanders marched with King and considers him a role model. If King were alive today he'd be stumping all over the country for Bern. Their economic messages mesh beautifully.
