Who would you start at point? I like both, but believe Blake is a more true point. I think Mo if coming off the bench could possibly be a poor man's Ben Gordon off the bench. Then again if you look at Mo's numbers last year they were comparable to T.J.'s in less minutes. Could more tick equal more production?
I'd go with Mo. Man i miss him. He was awesome for the Jazz. He's still way young, so yeah, i think he needs more playing time and he'll only get better.
Don't you still have Charlie Bell as well? Can any of those guys play backup SG? They will have to for all 3 of them to see any consisten mins. I would start Mo...with Blake and Bell as backup 1/2's. All 3 are capable of playing the point and capable of giving Redd a breather.
Charlie Bell can play backup SG with mo williams running the point, it will be tough so say who will start, Blake is not as talented or athletic as mo williams
However, Blake compliments the team (starting lineup in particular) much better. So I'd start him. Bring Mo off the bench as the scoring 6th man (which he's better at doing anyways).
Mo, no question. I've seen Steve Blake play, but with the Milwaukee system, he'd have to adapt a bit more to the corner-triangle. With Mo, you get the experience of the system. Mo anyday.
Honestly I would put Blake in the starting lineup. He's not as talented as Mo, but as for running a basketball team, he is more adept. He ran Maryland's team with Dixon, Wilcox, and Baxter and Portland beating out Telfair and Jack. Williams provides more energy, which translates better to a combo guard 6th man. Mo could wind up playing more minuets because of his ability to play the 1 and 2 spot. Charlie Bell can also play both positions and guys like that are best suited as the 3rd guard or starting 2guard on an uptempo team like Pheonix (look at how Nash and Barbosa clicked together). We'll have to see what happens because I do believe Larry Harris promised Mo Williams a starting job when TJ got traded. Anyways my guess is as good as anyones..
I'm pretty sure the starting spot is Mo's for now. He's been on the team longer than anybody except Redd, and he proved himself a capable starter in 04/05. He's also our second best scorer, so he needs his minutes. I wouldn't mind if we split the point guard minutes in half between Mo and Blake, and then give Mo another 5-10 minutes at the two. Use Bell almost exclusively at the 2. The problem with that though, is that Redd won't be on the bench much, and therefore Bell won't be in the game. Such a waste of a great player (and perhaps my favorite player on the team).
