Default Jarvis Varnado returning to Mississippi State

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...v=ap&type=lgns

Quote:
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP)—Mississippi State center Jarvis Varnado will return for his senior season after deciding not to turn pro.

The school announced the decision late Monday.

The nation’s leading shot blocker for two straight seasons will make a run at the NCAA record for career blocks in 2009-10. He is 19 blocks shy of breaking Shaquille O’Neal’s career SEC record of 412 and is 142 from passing the NCAA career mark of 535 set from 1999-2002 by Louisiana-Monroe’s Wojciech Mydra.

Ima research the back court but with that front court they are easily Preseason SEC title Contenders.

Not necessarily. First of all, we have no idea if Reik will be any kind of impact player. Second of all, Varnado is a stud but with Demarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson, Kentucky will have two better big men than Varnado.

And there's no guarantee that Sidney will even be eligible. Assuming he is, there certainly is no guarantee that he's a program-changer. He has weight issues and often plays too far from the basket (though with Varnado as the other big, they could be a very nice high-low duo). He could be Kevin Love, but he could just as easily- more easily?- be Derrick Caracter. Odds are it's somewhere in the middle.

I've been saying that all over these forums. I was able to see alot of Sidney, even play in a pickup game with him at Fairfax and the dude just loves to shoot jumpers for some reason. Even at times when he is the biggest guy on the court, he would rather take a 3 than post up If Sidney had dominated the paint like he was supposed to, Fairfax High would have been better than state champs Westchester
