It depends on the system, their surrounding players, rotation, position, etc..
Well, even though that Odom is the more talented player in terms of his skillset/capabilites, I still think that Marion is the guy that can fit in pretty much any system even though he'd be more successful in some than others. And the reason I say that is because offensively, Marion doesn't have any plays for him and he's the clean up guy who hits the occasional open shot. And defensively he can guard anywhere from 1-4. So I guess to me he'd be the more valuable type of asset to a team, but not the better player. Almost like how Pippen says that a player like himself could be looked at as more valuable to the team than Jordan.

For all the so called skill set Odom has he never does anything with it and he folds under the slightest hint of pressure. Odom should be better but he has decided to purposely handicap himself by only using one dribble move plus a spin and only finishing with one hand and never learning how to shoot. I guess Odom thinks he is so good that if he used both hands and decent bball iq he would be unstoppable so instead he plays like a one handed 6 year old girl to make the game interesting...

Read between the lines.. that's pretty much exactly what I meant in the post you quoted and the previous post I made in this thread.
I'd have Odom. Marion is a good player who absolutely thrives on up-tempo games, and he's also a good defender with multiple all-star selections under his belt, but for me Odom is slightly better as he can handle the ball exceptionally well and can create and run plays by himself. And Odom is a good rebounder and underrated defender. Too bad Odom seemed to be on the verge of becoming an all-star before he was traded to the Lakers.

Dwight is limited on offense, doesn't mean he isn't efficient.
Put the ball in the hoop is all that matter. Marion does that and at a better clip then most in the league.
Dwight is also 6ft11 and 250+lbs and since everyone seems to be arguing over who would fit better in most teams i think the guys point was if you put odom in any team you want the coach could play him at safely pg,sg,sf,pf
Odom is a more well-rounded player, and would fit easier onto any team, in my opinion.
Playing for an uptempo team, I think Marion may be more successful... and these days there are quite a few teams pushing the rock. Marion is also a more versatile defender.
if you are going to post these, please contribute your own opinion too.
anyway, they are both headcases but i think marion is a little more selfish then odom. skill wise, odom can do more especially in terms of ball handling but marion is a better three point shooter and defender. i think a lot of marion's success has been because of nash too, and im not yet sold on him away from nash. his PER was greater then 20 every year with nash, including the first half of last season, but then it dropped to 17 when he was traded to miami.
despite this fact, i would still probably pick marion. he isn't as good of a ball handler and they are nearly equal as rebounders but he provides superior defense and three point shooting.

Ask yourself this-those years Marion won his all star selections, would he have won them if he was starting on a crap team such as the Grizzlies? The correct answer to that my friend, is no.
