This is a fun game.

Rivers seems like a less athletic JR smith . Explosive scorers with a streaky jump shot and flashy moves

His game is tailor made for games like the McDonalds game and he looks average.

I may be wrong, but I think before it's all said and done, Rivers is going to be looked at as a bust in a few years.

For a 6'2" volume scoring SG he gets a TON of hype. I know he looked good in the dunk contest, but with the ball he does not look like a great athlete when trying to create his own shot, and his perimeter shot is inconsistent.

He may be pretty damn good in college, but I do not think he's the second coming or anything to that extent.

Off the top of my head, Myck Kabongo, Quinn Cook, James McAdoo, Anthony Davis, Michael Gilchrist, Brad Beal, and even P.J. Hairston stood out to me more than Rivers did.

But, it's just the McD's AA game, and it doesn't mean squat.

JR was a much better shooter than Austin Rivers in high school. I wouldnt even call JR streaky as a pure jumpshooter. He is only streaky because of the difficult shots he takes. But off catch and shoots he is cold blooded.

I remember JR Smith's McD's performance. He was pulling from 25 feet with ease.

Yes, UNC fans remember that McD's AA performance well. He put on a show, was raining in 25+ foot three pointers, and ended up going pro instead of sticking to his commitment to play for UNC.

I just threw up...something fans and opposing teams will do when facing them.

James McAdoo, Bob McAdoo son???

Haha, yeah, things still worked out.

A story a lot of people don't know, is UNC actually essentially had Kevin Durant at one point. However, some high school academic issues along with something else (not sure on the entire story) kept Roy from offering him a scholarship, and he ended up at Texas. He would have been on the 2007 team that lost in the Elite Eight to Georgetown in a tight game.

I also don't know if UNC truly "had" him, but there are a lot of UNC "insiders" that said he was as good as ours at one point.

Yeah, and it looks like his game may be very similar to his uncles. He hit a three last night in the McD's AA game and looks like he has a nice stroke from the perimeter. So, like Bob McAdoo, he might be an athletic face-up PF who can shoot the ball up to 20 feet out.

was he ever eligible to play for UNC? As someone who know JR, I was told he was never eligible.

I don't know about that. All I know is that he was a UNC commit until he blew up in the McDonald's game and decided to go to the NBA.
