I'm not sure you understand yet how good OKC is. You just need a bigger sample.

That's what I'm waiting on. I want to see them play an elite team. I really don't buy it because I saw what happened when OKC blew that 3-1 lead. PG was a great pick up. I don't believe he's the probem.

I think they have no depth. When Warriors punch them in the mouth they'll resort to taking a lot of bad shots. It's going to be a bloodbath with Melo's bad defense. I think people are so wrong about how good OKC is gonna be. They'll beat the shit out of bad teams but against Spurs and Warriors. No way.

Consider this. The Miami Heat didn't even figure it out their first year. How is a team with Westbrook going to do it? lol

They're gonna have a great defense which sets them apart from the Rockets or Spurs. They have the defense, size, and athleticism to limit the Warriors and the talent on offense to keep up. That's what I've been saying since they got Melo and it's just the truth

You keep bringing up Melo's defense as if he didn't showcase great help defense tonight... Donovan is a defensive coach and their team defense has the potential to be the best in the league.

Taking bad shots might be an issue, but the Durant OKC teams took bad shots and were always championship contenders. This 2017 version will be better than any of the previous versions and I'm saying that as a long-term fan.

I see the defensive potential with Wesbtrook, Roberson and PG. Everyone else I no. Melo is too old to dig deep. He was never interested in playing defense before why start now? Adams has kind of been whatever for the last couple season. Good but not great. Everyone else?

I see three good defenders on OKC. And Westbrook takes defensive possessions off. He padded his rebound stats like crazy last year leaving shooters. Oh and Melo played good defense, pressuring scrubs that can't play at the three point line. What's he going to do against KD? LOL. What about when that's Klay Thompson? Slash all night.

OKC was a top 10 defense last season, and this year they added Patterson and PG. They also got rid of Semaj and Kanter, who were by far the worst defenders in the team rotation(even worse than Abrines and way worse than Melo).

Westbrook(when he tries), Roberson, PG, Adams, Grant, Patterson. Those are 5 plus defenders, including 2 of the best wing defenders in the league and a great defensive anchor in Adams.

At worst thats a top 10 defense again and im betting on a top5

I'm not seeing Spurs having a worse defense than OKC, they were top 3 last year. They will be top 3 this year as well. It will be Jazz, Warriors & Spurs again imo. OKC have a chance of being elite defensively, but that will depend if Westbrook is gonna try. He's actually a pretty good defender when he does, but he's almost always too lazy to actually do it. Melo is a garbage defender, while PG is one of the best in the game and is a huge upside. Losing Kanter should help them defensively as well.

Assuming teams stay healthy. Meaning no major injuries to rotation players.
I rarely agree with anyone 100%, but these rankings are pretty damn close. I have Heat a few spots higher, and Clips one higher, but others all fall in same order after that.

Gotta love post-opening night picks!

Anyway, Blazers being super good isn't out of the question. Ppl tend to not realize they played .700 ball w/ Nurkic last season. But it will be tough. I'm thinking #6 seed, but #4 won't surprise me.

My question to a few peeps here is...why the Pacer love? They have one of the worst rosters in the league. We really overreacting to 1 game so far?

East

Before the season, I had Boston winning the East, but, to adjust and keep the rest as is:

1] Cleveland
2] Milwakuee
3] Washington
4] Boston
5] Toronto
6] Detroit
7] Miami
8] Philadelphia

I'd swap the Wolves with Portland in my Western Picks

1] Golden State
2] Oklahoma City
3] San Antonio
4] Houston
5] Denver
6] Los Angeles Clippers
7] Portland
8] New Orleans

How on earth anyone could think the Lakers are going to be better than the Timberwolves is also amazing. Laker fans continuing that long lasting tradition of absolute delusion.
