I've never heard of the kid before but I like what ESPN has to say about him:
Positives: Davidson has the athletic ability and size to be a role player in the NBA. He's already an excellent shot blocker and rebounder who can fly up and down the floor. Solid defender.
Negatives: Scouts have been waiting for him to develop a better offensive game and to gain some weight. Davidson is too skinny to play in the post at either end at the pro level, and scouts do wonder why he hasn't gained more mass in the past three years at Alabama. His extra 10 pounds of muscle this summer gives hope that he'll eventually fill out. Doesn't have a great basketball IQ. (This was written for last years draft, don't know why it wasn't updated).
I think this player (the #36 draft pick) will be the difference between the playoffs and the lottery for the Bobcats next season. If he can put on the muscle and can rebound and block some shots then he will be a good addition. I'm not asking much but 8 rpg and 2 bpg and he and Okafor can be a presence in the front court. He's 6'11" so he can play the C if he can put on the weight. Yes, Wright was playing next to an All-American, 1st Team All-ACC guy in Tyler at UNC but this kid's numbers last season (14.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.3 blk) were arguably as good as, or better than, Wright's (14.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.8 bpg). And the downside (being to skinny) is the same; I'm not justifying, I'm just sayin' ... Also, he and Gerald can share their love for the Tide like Felton, May, Jordan, Ford and Peterson share their love for the Heels.
End of the day, we have to wait and see but I think the kid has a shot and the Bobcats can still be a contender next year.
I live in Lexington and watch every UK game that's on as well as most SEC games. And I can personally say that Davidson is a defensive beast. He has great timing on his shot blocking. But he is still a project. if his mind and body can mature he has the skills to be a good solid player.
Some of you may have already seen this but I figured there might be some who havent and wanted to check out some reports on Davidson, who I think is going to be a very solid player whose face-up game will fit nice with Emeka.
Im not only pulling for him due to being apart of Charlotte but pulling for him due to personal tragedy that has occurred in his life. In december his brother was shot and killed, and a month earlier he was driving home with his girlfriend when they got in a wreck and she died while he left the wreckage with hardly a cut. Seems like a good kid.
